Evaluation of soybean selection and sowing date in a continuous cover relay-cropping system with pennycress

چکیده
Pennycress ( Thlaspi arvense L.) is a new winter annual oilseed crop that can be integrated as “cash cover crop” in Midwestern USA cropping systems. Relay-cropping pennycress with soybean [ Glycine max (L.) Merr.] has been shown an effective way to produce three crops over 2 years while providing living on the agricultural landscape nearly year-round. However, management improvements are needed optimize and production this system. A 2-year field study was conducted evaluate interseeding dates (based growth stage) cultivars (varied maturity date) overall productivity of relay Interseeding were SD1 (rosette stage), SD2 (bolting SD3 (initial flowering), MG0.2 (early), MG1.1 (standard), MG1.7 (late). In second season, relaying reduced seed yield compared its monocrop counterpart, but reduction lowest (23%) at SD2. Cultivar group impacted yields system, which for MG0.2, MG1.1, averaged 2,589, 3,196, 3,445 kg ha −1 , respectively. Although there drag associated cropping, cultivar interseeded not significantly different from monocropped using conventional practice (CP; fallow, no pennycress). The results indicate longer (MG1.7) region bolting stage (SD2) optimized system keeping continuous landscape. More research will likely improve selection regionally unique

Soaking seeds with paclobutrazol enhances winter survival and yield of rapeseed in a rice-rapeseed relay cropping system
Rice-rapeseed relay cropping is an effective way to use winter fallow fields and increaseland use efficiency. However, the overlapping period of 10–15 days for rice-rapeseedcultivation results in reduced winter survival and less yields. Therefore, in this study, weinvestigated if the treatment of oil rape seeds with paclobutrazol (PAC) improves its winterhardiness and yields by altering its cro...

The sensitivity of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Biweekly V-node and R-stage, stem node number, internode length, and other traits were quantifi ed in an irrigated split-plot, four-replicate, randomized complete block experiment cond...
متن کاملAdaptation to climate change through the choice of cropping system and sowing date in sub-Saharan Africa
Multiple cropping systems provide more harvest security for farmers, allow for crop intensification and furthermore influence ground cover, soil erosion, albedo, soil chemical properties, pest infestation and the carbon sequestration potential. We identify the traditional sequential cropping systems in ten sub-Saharan African countries from a survey dataset of more than 8600 households. We find...

A two-year experiment was conducted in the field to measure the combined impact of tilling and N fertilization on various agronomic traits related to nitrogen (N) use efficiency and to grain yield in maize cultivated in the presence of a cover crop. Four years after conversion to no-till, a significant increase in N use efficiency N harvest index, N remobilization and N remobilization efficienc...
